One of the educators in Melissa Kessler’s App Inventor class in Pendleton teaches preschool — and she came out of the class confident that she can use ScratchJr this fall, to help the kids she works with have fun, learn, and have some control. No more App specific classes this summer, but there are Game Development classes in Newport and Eugene.
A group from Umatilla robotics came, and will be taking the benefit of their
time in Don Domes’ FLL Robotics class back to their afterschool program. Don will be teaching again this week in Newport and Nikki Kolb will be taking the lead in Southern Oregon. For more information on how the SuperQuest approach is different, see the blog post LEGO for Classes and Clubs, Not Just Competitions.
Wade Sims and his Digital Design and Fabrication class managed to evade my camera, but they took home 3D prints and vinyl cuttings they designed. We had a hard time getting them to come out of their little cave for lunch. DDF is also offered in Newport and Southern Oregon.
I got to spend most of my time in Chris Winikka’s Web Coding class, which I will cover in a separate post (taking some of what I learned and working towards better formatting and more efficient workflow!). Chris is teaching in Newport and Jan Boley will be teaching Intro to Web Design in Eugene.
Respectfully submitted,
