One thing teachers who attend SuperQuest find really useful: the time to talk with their peers, share resources, and brainstorm around issues of classroom management, pedagogy, and student learning (and all the really good teachers I have known treat these as separate things, complexly interlinked.)
Some CTE teachers gathered for lunch, then headed off to separate classrooms. One of that group was the former PLTW teacher in Sandy, and another his successor.
PCC came to visit, to give details about dual credit options to Terrel Smith’s Curriculum and Pedagogy Class. Yesterday, T had one of his high school students showing the class how to use Gooru to keep collections of websites, videos, and documents.
A new teacher, fresh from industry, connected with Becka Morgan, Assistant Professor in the CS Department at WOU, for help developing his CS course. We’re sending him the Exploring Computer Science Curriculum from NSF unless Becka beats me to it.
Becka also met a fellow citizen of Monmouth who runs a non-profit bringing afterschool opportunities in STEM to kids, and they were deep in conversation. More information when I find it.
Respectfully submitted,
