Many STEM professional associations (think the OEA of engineering) have education, outreach, or foundation efforts aimed at developing a workforce of like-minded individuals. Some of these efforts are websites with games or stories, some are event-based, and some are online lesson repositories and/or career information.

• SEMI High Tech U, a several-day event. Historically, here in Oregon, hosted by Intel — learn more here.
• Keep tabs on Oregon’s Engineers Week (3rd week in February) here. It’s a great one day program for high school students that includes a field trip to a menu of industry sites, an exhibition hall and banquet, and a chance to talk with like-minded students and professionals.
• An easy-to-share pdf roundup of on-line resources from professional associations — STEM Professionals Share2 — something for all grade bands.
