We want to remind middle and high school teachers that the priority deadline for the Code.org 2018 Professional Learning Program is this Friday, March 30th.
Computer science opens up more opportunities than any other discipline and ensures students are well prepared for the future no matter what field they pursue. More and more schools are adding this foundational subject to their curriculum, and the need for computer science teachers is growing rapidly. Now is the ideal time to begin teaching computer science, and this program is the ideal place to start. No previous experience is necessary, and you could be teaching by the fall.
Generous grants and donations have enabled us to offer this program for free this year for teachers in most states.
In 2017, there were nearly 500,000 computing jobs in the US but only 42,969 computer science graduates. And, of those graduates, the percentage of female and underrepresented minority students is far too low. All our students deserve this opportunity, and it can start in your school.
“I didn’t know anything about coding before I took this course, and now I know more than I ever thought I would. The course allowed me to start from scratch, which is a remarkable feature. The same is true for students.”
We also offer elementary school teachers no-cost, high-quality one-day professional learning workshops all year long for Computer Science Fundamentals courses because it’s never too early to learn!
