This course is for teachers in Kinder through 5th grade, or grades higher that have no experience with computer coding, or with robotics. We will be demonstrating and giving teachers the opportunity to experience the learning process to use Ozobots, OSMO, Dot, and Dash Robots. To teach coding we will use OSMO as well as Code.org. These will directly translate into the use of Scratch…(Code.org and Rhino are both PC and Apple friendly). We will also give the opportunities for learning to use i-movie and Flipgrid in your classes. Our intent is that you will leave with a plan for your class, and an extended plan to finance purchases of items that you would like to add to your class offerings. This class is designed for classroom teachers, small group teachers, tech teachers, and just interested people. You will need to bring a computer. Each form of these robots are ipad based with free apps. We will bring ipads for you to use, but you may want to bring your own to set up accounts.
We will also be working on designing for a vinyl cutter using the Rhino program. If you would like to bring something to press your design onto (fabric for a sign, shirt, hat) you are welcome to do so. It will be a basic start, but will be a blast and you will leave with enough skills to impress your friends and get your kids rolling. Prior to coming to class, you can download a free trial of Rhino….but do not let all of the features and options intimidate you….it is a very usable program for students in from 4th grade up.
