Skill Level: Beginning through advanced classroom educators are encouraged to attend.
Description:
The laser cutter is every maker’s dream tool. Whether you want to etch detailed graphics, cut intricate patterns, or fabricate complex 3D objects, this tool will do it. Whether you’ve got access to a laser cutter or not, this class will teach you everything you need to know to make your own high-tech creations as well as which machine to purchase for your space.
This workshop is a technology primer designed to help classroom educators become familiar with the tools and processes needed to produce objects.
Participant will gain extensive hands-on experience. We will explore the process, tools and curriculum for classroom implementation of laser etching and cutting. Everyone will produce both 2D objects and assembled 3D structures to give participants a broad introduction to laser etching and cutting as a lab tool.
Advanced participants with prior laser etching and cutting experience are encouraged to attend. This is a time for you to “do your projects”, share your experience, build your curriculum and network with like-minded teachers.
Participants should bring a laptop with a PC or Mac version download of Rhino3D (or other vector software they know and can draw in).
This class will have a $15 material fee to cover supplies provided. All materials needed will be supplied for free.
