SuperQuest Eugene Lunch and Learn Speaker Line-Up

Wednesday: Terrel Smith, 37 year veteran of the classroom and President of the Oregon Computer Science Teachers Association — T will talk about the grant funding this workshop, and additional supports for increasing the number and quality of CS education programs in Oregon, in and afterschool.
Thursday: Chris Stephenson, Head of CS Education Programs at Google, will talk about where she see CS education going in the next few years and some of the projects Google has to address these needs. Chris was for many years the Executive Director of the national Computer Science Teachers Association under the umbrella of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). She is big on education, advocacy, and inclusion.
Friday we’ve got a double-header before the weekend: Joanna Goode, one of the co-authors of the NSF Exploring Computer Science curriculum and now a UO professor, will talk about inclusive pedagogy and computer science. Her colleague and occasional co-presenter is Jane Krauss from the National Center for Women in Information Technology. At NCWIT, Jane manages the Counselors for Computing program, “creates inclusive curricula for introducing computer science to kids” and “develops programs for higher ed and industry outreach” (quotes pulled from Jane’s linkedin profile.)
