Computer Science for All #cs4all
Ruthe Farmer

Meet your champion

A self-described “champion of change,” Ruthe Farmer’s vision of what could happen nationwide is being humbly played out in evolving organizations which have the potential to change the trajectory of students nationwide.  She’s not an engineer, but it’s her calling to “manufacture them. “Computer Science for all,” is her mantra, and orchestrating resources to especially empower women and girls in this field is one of her greatest strengths, in addition to educating educators about how to build their programs to grow and fund computer science in the classrooms.

What does that mean for you as an educator?

  • High school students are able to get AP credit for their computer science classes
  • Your school or program has access to grants and matching funds
  • You do not have to be a computer science guru in order to teach it
  • Find out about available curriculum so teachers don’t have to write it

We need people to fund future education

You don’t have to be a genius to do this.

Highlights from the Symposium

  • Your involvement in partnerships with companies that make commitments to this campaign can serve as the model for other states. creating a network of support. As an educator you can also apply for funds for your need or program and be an agent of change in your school and paving the way for more schools to receive money for education.
  • One way to do this is to understand that the more demand there is for funding programs and projects though grant applications, the more money will be allocated to these requests.
  • Also learn about Donor’s Choose, a fund matching program for computer science related needs in schools, Do you have questions about STEM and computer science related funding as well as other grants and deadlines? Watch the videos below for additional details.
